The High Commission of India, Georgetown, celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day on 26th January 2026 at the premises of Swami Vivekanada Cultural Centre (SVCC) with festive fervour. Around 200 people attended the ceremony including members of Indian Diaspora, Indian community and students from various Universities in Guyana. Dr. Amit Telang, High Commissioner of India unfurled the National Flag and read out excerpts from Hon'ble President of India's address to the Nation.

Members of the Indian community and diaspora, including students, enthralled the gathering through cultural performances. The event also included photo-exhibitions on 150th anniversary celebrations of India’s national song “Vande Mataram” and AYUSH, showcasing Ayurvedic products and informative material on Yoga along with various public diplomacy initiatives implemented by the High Commission of India and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Georgetown. The event was live streamed on the YouTube of the Mission.
