Girmitya Conference 2021 on 16 & 17 September 2021

 The Government of India, Ministry of External Affairs is organizing Girmitya Conference 2021 on 16 & 17 September 2021 virtually. The theme of the Conference is Changing identities, shifting trends and roles.  The Conference is particularly of interest to Indian Diaspora countries like Guyana.
 
            Guyana will be represented in the Conference by three leading personalities and they will speak at the Conference on various topics.  Dr. Vishnu Bisram, Scholar on Indo Diaspora Studies will be speaking on the first day of the Conference on 16th September - 0730 to 0830 hrs Guyana time, on the topic ‘Making of the Girmit (Indentured) Diaspora’ and on the same day Mr. Ravi Dev, Sangachalak, HSS Guyana will be speaking 0930 to 1030 hrs Guyana time, on the topic ’Girmityas and India’.  Dr. Baytoram Ramharack, Associate Professor of Political Science, Nassau Community College will be speaking on the second day of the Conference on 17th September - 0730 to 0830 hrs Guyana time, on the topic ‘The burden of history’.
