PRESS RELEASE- High Commissioner's Visits.

Today (25 Nov.), High Commissioner H.E. Dr. K.J. Srinivasa visited four sites at Ruimveldt, Sussex Street, Nootenzuil and Hope where the Mobile and Fixed heavy-duty drainage pumps supplied from India are being installed and commissioned by the Technical Team from India.  Mobile pumps have been installed and commissioned at Ruimveldt, Sussex Street. Nootenzuil and Hope will have Fixed Pumps, the installation of which are progressing well.

 

High Commissioner Srinivasa had also visited two other Pump Stations at Devonshire Castle and Hampton Court in the Essequibo Region on 18th November 2020 where installation of two Fixed Pumps at each Station is being carried out.  This work is progressing as per plan and expected to be completed by first week of December 2020.

 

The Government of India arranged procurement and installation of 9 Fixed and 3 Mobile high-capacity irrigation pumps for agricultural purposes and mitigation of flooding in Georgetown and its environs under a Line of Credit financing of US$ 4 million. The contract for the work was awarded to M/s Apollo International Limited, Gurgaon, India and the Indian company has been working in coordination with the National Drainage & Irrigation Authority of Guyana. Supervision for installation and commissioning of all the 12 Pumps will be carried out by the Indian company in the next two months.
