142^nd Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

The Government of India has, as in the last year, decided to celebrate the 142^nd Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, which falls on October 31, 2017.

To commemorate the occasion, the High Commission of India will be organizing a function at the Indian Cultural Centre, 67 Bel Air, New Haven, Georgetown on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 10:00 hrs. It has also been decided to invite entries from Indian students studying in your esteemed university on the following topic:

Integrating the Princely States into India-Noble Contribution of Sardar Patel

The best three entries will be given certificates and cash awards during the event. The best entry will be posted on the High Commission’s website and Facebook account. The entries with maximum of 600 words may please be forwarded to the email ID: hoc.georgetown@mea.gov.in by Friday October 27, 2017 latest by 12 00 Noon.

There will also be a quiz competition on the subject “Quit India Movement” and on “Life of Sardar Patel” on the same day.
